Devoid Camraderie -

I'm here, in front of you, closer than before
Why am I so close, but not the way I long for?
I know you and you know me, but why am I in pain?
Somehow when I'm by your side, there's nothing left to gain.

I make you laugh. & You charm my toes up to my hair
But when I'm not around, you don't notice I'm not there.
Why is it that you're all I know, hear, touch, and see?
And when things eventually reverse, you see all but me?

I'm not strong enough to hold on, or even to let you go
& my greatest fear of all, is for my fragile walls to implode
How do I erase what's imprinted in my mind
when what I think I feel can never be left behind?
You're the one-way mirror, the door under lock and key
So how do I let you go,
when you're the center of it all, this devoid camraderie -
